Novelist Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) is having a bad jump of writer’s stump, in the midst of painful divorce proceedings. Things go rounded off worse when a black hatted and intense John Shooter (John Turturro) bangs on the door of his alone lakeside hut, accusing Rainey of plagiarising his version and exacting payment. Rainey insists his innocence but Shooter becomes more and more threatening. As Rainey tries to mark a way evasion of the impasse, the body number begins.
